Cryptocurrency exchange Backpack Exchange has announced the appointment of former Citibank executive Laurence King as the Chief Audit Officer. With nearly 30 years of experience in internal audit and risk management in global financial institutions, King has held various audit and regulatory roles in the Asia-Pacific region at Citibank. This appointment follows the significant personnel change earlier in March when former Stripe and Credit Suisse executive Oliver Sleafer joined as the Chief Financial Officer at Backpack. King will be responsible for establishing and overseeing Backpack's global audit processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements worldwide, enhancing transparency, and industry audit standards.

According to official sources, the cryptocurrency exchange Backpack Exchange has announced the appointment of Laurence King as its Audit Director. This comes as another significant personnel appointment for Backpack, following the addition of Laurence King as Chief Financial Officer in March, prior to which Stripe and former Credit Suisse executive Oliver Sleafer joined. King has nearly 30 years of experience leading internal audit and risk functions in global financial institutions. Before joining Backpack, he served as Audit Director for Citibank in multiple countries in the Asia Pacific region and as Regulatory Engagement Director for Citibank in the Asia Pacific region. Previously, he held senior management positions in several financial institutions, including Executive Director of IT Regulatory Risk for Morgan Stanley in Asia Pacific, Global Head of ITGC Audit for Deutsche Bank, and IT Audit Head for Asia Pacific, as well as IT Risk Head for Asia Pacific at JPMorgan Chase. He will lead Backpack in establishing a world-class internal audit function, overseeing its global audit processes to ensure compliance with strict regulatory requirements in various jurisdictions, enhance transparency to users, and elevate industry audit standards.
