Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot, unveiled the JAM Gray Paper at the Token2049 conference, introducing a new hybrid non-transactional blockchain model for Polkadot called JAM. JAM combines the strengths of Polkadot and Ethereum, offering a globally permissionless object environment and enabling parallel computation through a scalable node network. JAM aims to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance interoperability and accessibility. $DOT will remain the primary currency within the JAM framework, used for fee payments, governance participation, and staking. JAM's design allows for charging based on computational resources, similar to Ethereum's gas system.
