Decentralized AI project Gaianet has successfully raised $10 million in a seed funding round to further its mission of decentralizing networks for generative AI tools. The funding round saw participation from notable investors including EVM Capital, Mirana Ventures, Mantle EcoFund, Generative Ventures’ Lex Sokolin, and Republic Capital’s Brian Johnson. The newly acquired funds will be directed towards the development of educational tools for STEM students and leveraging distributed ledger technology to decentralize AI networks. Gaianet CEO Matt Wright emphasized the investment will aid in making AI more accessible, data bias-resistant, collaborative, and privacy-centric. Additionally, the funds will support the development of AI-powered chatbot “teaching assistants” for university students, in partnership with the University of California at Berkeley, and the expansion of a distributed network of edge nodes to host AI models, aiming to offer more private and secure AI tools.
