Japanese listed company METAPLANET plans to continue increasing its holdings in Bitcoin, with approximately $7.7 million already invested. CEO SIMON GEROVICH stated that the company has shifted its strategy to focus on long-term accumulation of Bitcoin, believing it to be most valuable for shareholders. METAPLANET will explore options to acquire more Bitcoin and intends to continue purchasing Bitcoin disregarding short-term price fluctuations. Currently holding Bitcoin worth around 1.2 billion yen, they aim for Bitcoin to constitute a significant portion of the balance sheet in the future. GEROVICH emphasized that the company exclusively acquires Bitcoin, considering it the only truly decentralized digital asset, and plans to explore opportunities to generate additional income within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Furthermore, METAPLANET has designated Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset to counter economic pressures in Japan, including high government debt, long-term negative real interest rates, and a weak yen. The company's strategy involves prioritizing Bitcoin, utilizing long-term yen liabilities, and periodically issuing stocks as financial strategies to accumulate more Bitcoin, increase Bitcoin value, and enhance shareholder value.
