Binance Labs-backed Velvet Capital was forced to temporarily deactivate its website to prevent a major phishing attack after unusual activity was reported on April 23. Users were prompted to approve wallet access, leading to a cybersecurity alert advising investors to deny all wallet connect requests. Founder Vasily Nikonov announced the closure for maintenance and is working with the tech team and security researchers to regain control. Blockchain investigation firms confirmed the hack, and users who confirmed transactions since April 23 may be victims. Nikonov assured that smart contracts and funds are not impacted, and no user losses have been reported as of 6:50 AM UTC. Similar front-end hacks were reported by DeFi protocols Aerodrome and Velodrome on Nov. 28, 2023, with attackers managing to steal approximately $40,000 in crypto assets.
