Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot, has released a grey paper outlining the initial JAM specification, aiming to explore the future proposals of Polkadot. The JAM specification combines elements from both Polkadot and Ethereum, providing a globally permissionless object environment that incorporates secure off-chain computation and can run in parallel on a scalable network of nodes. JAM introduces a decentralized hybrid system, building smart contract functionality primarily driven by Polkadot's underlying architecture. JAM is permissionless, allowing anyone to deploy code as a service and pay for resources by purchasing and allocating CORE-TIME to guide code execution. Additionally, a CORECHAINS service compatible with Polkadot has been envisioned.
