A group of crypto developers released an alternative implementation of the experimental ERC-404 token standard, named DN-404, aiming for efficiency and reduced Ethereum transaction fees. The original ERC-404, launched by the Pandora team on February 2, sought to combine ERC-20 tokens and NFTs for native fractionalization of NFTs. However, it significantly impacted Ethereum transaction fees. The DN-404 version, released on February 12, claims a 20% reduction in transaction fee impact by using separate, more standard contracts for fungible and non-fungible tokens, according to developers Cygaar and Quit. The code is unaudited, and the developers have not introduced their token-NFT hybrid using this code, citing it as more of a gimmick but acknowledging the community's interest.
