Coming to a blockchain near you (all image rights belongs to their respective owners)</figcaption></figure><p>Hackathons have been an unending thrill for us lately. Following two incredible ETH Global events in <a href="https://medium.com/coinmonks/ux-and-onboarding-in-eth-denver-fa1d0b3173ea" target="_blank">Denver</a> and Paris, Ethereum enthusiasts, hackers, and makers gathered in New York for another round of competition fueled by creativity and coffee. Our team was delighted by the opportunity to help one of the winning teams create their project, Robot Rumble, by offering their users an easy way of piloting their battling bots.</p><p>The Robot Rumble team leveraged ThunderCore and Portis to build a new type of robot. The resulting project was so irresistible that hackathon judges awarded it two separate prizes! Robot Rumble’s goal was to improve interactions between humans and machines through gamification. They could also choose to bet on themselves. Scott is Head of Business Development &amp; Global Partnerships at Portis and Irvin is a research scientist at the <a href="http://www.atr.cs.kent.edu/" target="_blank">Advanced Telerobotics Research Laboratory</a> at Kent State University. They hit it off at ETH Denver after talking at length about ways to boost the adoption of blockchain technology. It was this connection that ultimately led Scott and the Portis team to cheer on <a href="https://devpost.com/software/robotrumble" target="_blank">Robot Rumble</a> throughout the competition.</p><p>“The Portis team was very helpful. They had great guidelines on their website. It is a very different experience from other companies; they give developers plenty of options for each use case”</p><p>Our team at Portis is pleased to have helped the tireless creatives behind Robot Rumble find success at ETH New York. The Robot Rumble team worked almost non-stop for three days to bring their project to life and Portis and ThunderCore were with them every step of the way, providing integration guidance and general support. By lessening the integration workload, we gave Robot Rumble’s team more time to focus on their own creativity.</p><h3>In light of these recent triumphs, it feels like the perfect moment for us to announce our partnership with ThunderCore.</h3><figure><img src='https://sosovalue.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/sosponge/web3image/23/11/01/ipwgt0hjdw76.png'/></figure><p>In many regards, Portis and ThunderCore share the same values and ambitions. ThunderCore’s goal of addressing the challenges of scalability and gas fees harmonizes perfectly with Portis’ objective of enabling wider adoption in the blockchain space. ThunderCore employs its own EVM compatible blockchain using Ethereum’s code at its foundation. To increase speed, ThunderCore implements what is called an “accelerator”.
