Bitcoin is threatening the traditional banks.  1 Bitcoin equals 70k, and that is a problem.  Now they are going to regulate it so they can profit from it.  Bitcoin kills traditional systems.  No more banks.  No more middlemen for anything.

The government does not collect money when you sell a stock.  Why do you think they care if you make money.  When you do make money, and some people make a lot from cryptocurrency, they just want in on the profits.  Hence regulation that's basically a tax.
