BitcoinOS

BitcoinOS (BOS) is a new layer built to extend Bitcoin’s capabilities beyond simple transactions, enabling scalable, verifiable smart contracts without changing Bitcoin’s core consensus rules. It builds on the innovations of BitVM, introducing BitSNARK — an optimized system for verifying zkSNARK proofs directly on Bitcoin.

Through BitSNARK and its implementation called Grail, BOS enables Bitcoin Rollup Bridges that connect the Bitcoin mainnet (Layer 1) with Layer 2 networks, allowing assets to move seamlessly while maintaining Bitcoin-level security. This approach drastically reduces complexity, transaction size, and verification time compared to earlier systems.

By solving Bitcoin’s long-standing trilemma of scalability, programmability, and decentralization, BOS aims to transform Bitcoin into the foundation for a broader financial ecosystem — combining trustless computation, high throughput, and open interoperability under one unified protocol.
