API3

API3 is a decentralized oracle project designed to bridge the gap between real-world data and blockchain applications, offering a decentralized solution for API integration in smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Launched in December 2020, API3 provides decentralized APIs (dAPIs) that allow blockchain applications to securely and seamlessly access off-chain data. The core technology behind API3 is Airnode, a serverless oracle node that simplifies the process for API providers to connect their data to blockchain networks without requiring extensive blockchain knowledge.

As a decentralized oracle, API3 aims to eliminate third-party intermediaries, directly connecting API providers with blockchain applications to ensure high-quality and reliable data feeds. By incentivizing API providers, API3 ensures the transparency and efficiency of data transmission. The project's native token, API3, serves multiple purposes within its ecosystem, including staking, governance, and payments, creating a self-sustaining model that rewards participants and secures the network.

API3’s governance is managed by a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), allowing community members to participate in decision-making and development processes. This ensures that the platform remains aligned with the interests of users and contributors.
