Bitcoin mining company Hut 8 has announced the launch of a GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) business, providing customers with GPU computing capability rental to support high-performance tasks such as AI processing. Hut 8 has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and AdvizeX to design and launch new computing clusters through its subsidiary Highrise AI. This partnership includes fixed infrastructure payments and a revenue-sharing agreement with an unnamed AI cloud developer. Hut 8's GPUaaS clusters are deployed in a Tier 3 data center in Chicago, consisting of multiple HPE Cray supercomputers equipped with 1,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot stated that the launch of the GPUaaS business further diversifies the company's computing layer, which now encompasses AI computing, Bitcoin mining, and traditional cloud services.
